How a Menu Photo Becomes a 10-Second Video for Reels

Restaurants kept asking us for menu videos for Instagram and TikTok. So we built a studio: upload a photo, get a video in minutes.

Restaurants sometimes come to us with a request that has nothing to do with agents or CRMs. Their Instagram is a long row of plate photos, their TikTok is mostly empty, and they want something that moves. Nobody on staff has time to shoot and edit video between lunch and dinner service.

So we built a tool that takes a photo of a menu and turns it into a short video where the dishes come to life. It worked. A feed of still pictures suddenly had motion in it, and the requests kept coming.

That's where the second problem showed up. Every new video meant a message to us and then waiting until we got to it. For a restaurant that wants to post this week, that's too slow. For us, it was the same manual job again and again.

So we turned the tool into a studio restaurants can use on their own: studio.evolutionai.biz. Upload a photo, and in about 5 to 10 minutes the video is ready.

What you upload and what you get

You upload one photo: a menu page or a single dish. JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB. The studio finds the dishes and builds a short video with sound.

There are three formats right now:

  • Animated menu. The whole menu page becomes a 10-second video where the dishes come to life.
  • Dish animation. One photo of a plate becomes a 5-second video of the dish in motion.
  • Ingredient reveal. The dish splits into its ingredients in mid-air and then comes back together. Also 10 seconds.

You can keep the photo's original proportions or get a vertical 9:16 version for Reels and TikTok. You don't have to sit and wait either. Close the page, come back later, and the video is in your History.

Why start from a menu

Most restaurants already have the material: a printed menu, dish photos from the website or a delivery app. What they don't have is the time to turn those into video every week, or someone who knows how.

The studio works with what's already there. Nothing to shoot, nothing to edit, no one to hire for it.

Why we made it self-service

We could have kept doing these videos by hand as a service. But look at the job itself: the same input (a photo), the same steps, the same kind of result. When clients keep asking for the same thing, that's a sign to stop doing it manually and give them a button.

We tell clients the same about their own businesses. If someone on your team does the same task every day in the same way, that's the first place to look for automation. We wrote about how to spot those places in How to Identify Where AI Actually Belongs in Your Business.

What it costs

The studio runs on monthly credits. A menu video or an ingredient reveal is 11 credits, a dish animation is 6.

PlanPriceCreditsRoughly
Starter$29/month454 menu videos or 7 dish videos
Pro$59/month11010 menu videos or 18 dish videos
Business$149/month27525 menu videos or 45 dish videos

You can cancel any time in Billing. The plan stays active until the end of the period, and you can use your credits until then.

The honest part

A few things worth knowing before you sign up.

This is animation made from your photo, not footage from your kitchen. It's great for variety in the feed, but it won't replace a real video of your chef, your room or your guests. We'd post both.

Credits expire every month. If you only plan to post a couple of videos a month, take the smallest plan.

Videos are kept for 90 days, so download the ones you want to keep. And for now it's restaurants only. We're already thinking about which businesses could use the same idea next. If you have one in mind, tell us.

What to do this week

  1. Take a clear photo of your menu or your best-selling dish. Good light, no glare.
  2. Run it through the studio and post the vertical version as a Reel.
  3. After a week, look at how it did next to your last few photo posts.

If your problem isn't a menu

Behind the studio is the same approach we use with every client: find the task that repeats, then make it run without you.
